The poor implementation of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals led to the adoption of Sustainable Development Goals. But despite both goals the world has continued to record higher number of out-of-school children, child soldiers and child labourers, poverty and want among the poor in many countries.

Thus, human rights remain a challenge in a world where majority of people lack access to safe food and water, clean and safe environment, basic education, affordable health etc.
